HEART HEALTH CHECKS
Globally, cardiac conditions are on the rise. In fact, 1.4 million Australians have a high risk of heart attack or stroke in the next 5 years. Yet, an estimated 80% of cardiovascular disease is preventable. At Health in Focus, we aim to promote heart health through screening and education, making cardiac care more accessible. We aim to achieve this through pop-up clinics providing free heart health checks, and hope to expand this to a larger Mobile Cardiac Screening Clinic in the future.
Primary Research:
In August 2025, a total of 28 individuals had 1-1 consultations in our Pop-Up Mobile clinics in an event conducted at Bunnings Scoresby to establish their cardiovascular risk profile as well as provide imperative medical education. 72% of patients interviewed who did not have Hypertension diagnosed in their past medical history were found to have hypertensive readings at time of review. Further results are summarized below.
What are the results of a heart health check?
78.5% of Asymptomatic individuals had high Blood pressure one of the major risk factors for cardiovascular disease
14.2% had abnormal electrocardiograms (A measure of cardiac conduction)
75% was recommended follow up for cardiovascular disease prevention through primary care provider post heart health check
